Od aristokrata k běžnému turistovi (Česká klientela a její oblíbené rekreační lokality ve Vysokých Tatrách a jinde na Slovensku)

In the second half of the 19th century, several enlightened nobles began to build the first tourist center in the Tatra settlements. Czech visitors in small groups or individually visited the tourist sites, especially the High Tatras, already before 1918. It was mainly the more solvent nobility. Tourism in Slovakia began to develop quite significantly in the new republic in the 20s of the last century, thanks to a few passionate individuals. The establishment of the Košice-Bohumín Railway helped boost the development of tourism. The incentive to visit local tourist sites also came from the highest political scene. Visits from the western part of Czechoslovakia to Slovak spas and the High Tatras increased from year to year, but it was slowed down by the global economic crisis, which was not the worst in the tourism segment between 1932 and 1934. Even in this period, visitors from the Czech regions remained loyal to Slovak tourist sites. An intensive promotional tourist campaign played an important role here.
