What educators should know about teaching digital storytelling

In this paper, the authors present some of the most important lessons they havelearned from teaching courses, conducting workshops, writing articles, andsupervising graduate student research on the educational uses of digitalstorytelling. The guidelines described here are categorized within the ADDIEinstructional design framework and are presented as starting points thateducators should consider when they begin to integrate digital storytelling in theirclassrooms. The guidelines provide useful information that will help educatorsteach students all phases of the digital storytelling process, including analysis,design, development, implementation and evaluation of digital storytellingprojects that focus on educationally meaningful topics.
