Resumen

Descripción general del contenido del recurso.

INTRODUCTION. The aim of the study is to describe the names of women‟s wedding attire in the Yakut language. The relevance of the study is due to the fact that the vocabulary related to clothing represents one of the oldest layers of the linguistic system, which serves as a reflection of the material and spiritual culture, historical development, and traditional practices of the people. The study of the names of bridal clothing in the Yakut language has not previously been the subject of research by Yakut scholars. MATERIALS AND METHODS. The materials for the study were lexicographic and ethnographic sources of the Yakut language. The method of complete sampling, as well as methods and techniques of descriptive, semantic, and comparative-historical analysis were applied. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION. A total of 10 names of bridal attire in the Yakut language were examined. It has been revealed that among the examined terms, common Turkic lexemes predominate, many of which are genetically traceable to the Old Turkic language and retain their original semantics. The examined vocabulary demonstrates significant similarity with the corresponding terminology of other Turkic languages, such as Altai, Khakas, Tuvan, Kazakh, and Kyrgyz. As a result of various factors, influenced by socio-economic and cultural reasons, some lexical units have transitioned into the passive vocabulary. CONCLUSION. The wedding attire of a Yakut bride is not only an aesthetically appealing element of culture but also an important symbolic artifact reflecting the multifaceted nature of Yakut traditions and beliefs. Every detail of the clothing carries a deep meaning associated with rituals, social statuses, and protective functions.
