Między katedrą a mównicą. Udział profesorów Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego w pracach senatu II Rzeczypospolitej (1922–1939)

During the interwar period, professors from the Jagiellonian University played an active role in the Polish public life by serving in the Senate, contributing their academic authority and expertise. Although only five professors from the university held senatorial mandates, their influence on legislative processes, especially in the fields of education, public health, and agriculture, was significant. Among them were prominent figures such as Emil Godlewski, Julian Nowak, and Leon Marchlewski, known for their commitment to social justice, academic autonomy, and reform. Their parliamentary speeches often emphasized ethical governance, national integration, and the prioritization of public welfare. These professors bridged the academic and political spheres, shaping policy through expert input and civic responsibility. Their engagement enhanced the university’s prestige and affirmed the importance of intellectuals in building a modern state.
