Resumen

Descripción general del contenido del recurso.

Work engagement and employment relationships are important factors influencing job performance in the hospitality industry, where service quality is largely dependent on employees’ energy, commitment, and interpersonal interactions. This study examined the level of work engagement, defined as a positive and fulfilling work-related state characterized by vigor (energy and resilience at work), dedication (enthusiasm, pride, and sense of significance), and absorption (deep concentration and immersion in work). It also assessed employment relationships in terms of employee–employer relationships, reflecting leadership support, fairness, and organizational concern, and employee–employee relationships, which indicate cooperation, teamwork, and peer support among hotel personnel in Cagayan de Oro City. Job performance was measured through task performance and contextual performance. Using a descriptive–correlational research design, data were gathered from 62 hotel employees from various departments. Results revealed that hotel personnel demonstrated a high level of work engagement and a high level of employment relationship. Spearman Rho analysis showed that dedication was significantly associated with overall job performance, while vigor was significantly related to contextual performance. Absorption and employment relationship variables showed no significant association with job performance. The findings indicate that while positive employment relationships contribute to a supportive work environment, employees’ dedication and sustained work energy play a more critical role in enhancing job performance in the hospitality sector.
