Resumen

Descripción general del contenido del recurso.

Hypoalbuminemia is prevalent in continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) patients and is related with poor prognosis. Amino acid containing solutions are used in the management of hypoalbuminemia. This retrospective study was planned to investigate the effects of amino acid dialysate (AAD) to the biochemical parameters and complications of CAPD patients. Nutrineal group (group I) consisted of 17 patients who had AAD in the last two years and Dieneal group (group II) consisted of 17 patients whose dialysis duration were similar with group I. Biochemical parameters and clinical complications of the groups were evaluated at the same time period. Total protein and albumin levels were increased significantly in both of the groups but this increase was more significant in group I. Tryglicerides rised significantly in group II at the 12th month but there was no increase in group I. As a result, significant benefits of AAD for albumin and total protein levels were shown. The rise of tryglicerides in group II wasn't observed in group I and this was concluded as an advantage for AAD.
