THE EFFECTS OF BRESCIA-CIMINO AND RADIOCEPHALIC FISTULAS ON CARDIAC OUTPUT AND CARDIAC INDEX

Brescia-Cimino and radiocephalic fistulas were used in renal failure. We know that arteriovenous fistulas contribute to increase of the CO (Cardiac output) value, we try that whether increase or decrease cardiac output and cardiac index (CI) values in these patients. We evaluated these parameters in 21 patients (ages ranges 49-59,mean age;55.2) at the Medicine School of Süleyman Demirel University Cardiovascular Surgery Department. Brescia-Cimino fistula was performed in 11 patients (Group I), radiocephalic fistula was performed in 10 patients (Group II). We evaluated cardiac output, ejection fraction, aortic cumulus diameters calculated by echocardiography in these patients during preoperative and postoperative 45 th days. Mean CO values were 4.86±0.7 L/min/m2 in preoperative, 5.85±0.33 L/min/m' in postoperative periods,mean preoperative CI values preoperative 2.96+0.22 Umin/m', in postoperative periods,3.22±0.21 L/min/m2 at the Group I,mean CO values were 4.74+0.24 L/min in preoperative^. 15+0.37 L/min/m in postoperative period,mean CI values 2.92±0.18 L/min/m2 in preoperative,3.14+0.19 L/min/m2 in postoperative at the group II. These parameters were evaluated with t test. We observed results values mean increased important statistically CI and CO values in Group I that Group II (Group I p<0.001,Group 11 p<0.01). Proximaly fistulas are more to increase cardiac output and cardiac index than distal fistulas.
