Resumen

Descripción general del contenido del recurso.

In our country, kidney donors are usually elder relatives of patients. It's possible that these kidneys may have histopathological findings related to aging and causes the complexicity at kidney functions after transplantation and also morphological findings of newly obtained transplant kidney biopsies. In this study, we investigated the incidence and intensity of findings in zero hour needle biopsies (ZHNB) and their correlation with early creatinine values. In 84% of ZHNB histopathological findings have been determined. Most frequent findings were intimal fibrosis and intimal hyaline deposits. The findings were significant in 27% of ZHNB. Kidneys are harvested from elder donors and having significant histopathological changes have high creatinine values. The sum of histopathological scores and older age are correlated with higher levels of creatinine values. Our findings show that in ZHNB histopathological changes related to donors are present. These findings are valuable to predict the graft function and to obtain knowledge for other transplant biopsies.
