Riepilogo

Descripción general del contenido del recurso.

A prospective study of 8 weeks duration has been performed to evaluate if combined sodium and ultrafiltration (UF) modelling could affect the incidence of symptoms occurring during hemodialysis. During the first four weeks patients were given standard hemodialysis. All patients were questioned if they had complaints of headache, light headness, nausea, vomiting, palpitation, dispnea, blurring of vision. Additionally nursing interferences and vital signs were recorded. In the same manner, all questioning and registration were carried out during the second four week period (sodium and UF modelling period). During both phases serum samples for sodium determination and dialysate samples for dialysate sodium determination were taken midweek session. When vital signs, complaints and interferences in each phase were considered no the frequlnay of the symptoms were decreased in the secondphose although statistical difference was observed. Combined sodium and UF may improve quality of dialysis and decrease the number of interferences.
