Resumen

Descripción general del contenido del recurso.

İn this study, hepatitis B and C markers were evaluated in hemodialysis patients with RPHA (Reverse Passive Hemeagglutunation) and ELISA (Enzyme Linked Immuno Sorbent Assay) methods to assess the diagnostic value of RPHA. Sixty patients (27 women, mean age 44.817.1 years) from the hemodialysis center in our Government Hospital were enrolled to the study. At July 1998, in blood samples derived from the fistulised venous system HBsAg , anti-HBs and antiHCV were studied with RPHA while HBsAg, anti-HBs, anti-HBc total and anti-HCV were studied with 3th generation ELISA method. If the results obtained from the ELISA method are assumed to be "real true"; the sensitivity, specifity, positive and negative predictivity of the RPHA method are found to be 75%, 98%, 75%,, 98% for HBsAg; 54%, 91%, 91%, 51% for anti-HBs and 91%, 100%, 100%, 90% for anti-HCV, respectively. Our results indicate that, at least ELISA should be preferred to RPHA method to determine the hepatitis B virus markers in hemodialysis patients.
