Resumen

Descripción general del contenido del recurso.

Albumin is an important diagnostic and prognostic determinant as well as a useful therapeutic agent. One of the indications for albumin is to use it in hypoalbuminemia and hemodialysis associated shock, hypotension and cramps. We evaluate 20 % albumin solution in 10 randomized hemodialysis patients because of the albumin leakage in all dialysers and hemodialysis associated hypotension and cramps. The amount of albumin administered in the first hour of the session were 25 cc per each dialysis over a 6 month period. In this prospective and retrospective study we evaluate the incidence of hemodialysis associated hypotension, cramps, blood pressure changes and serum albumin, total protein, calcium values in the 6 month period. The results were analyzed statistically. There was no difference in ultrafiltiation volumes, blood flow membrane types and UF coefficient values. The mean albumin concentrations in the non albumin treated period were 3.45 % mg/dl in albumin treated period. And also total protein concentrations changed from 6.90 % mg/dl to 4.22 % mg/dl (N.S.) In albumin treated period albumin induced miminal arterial hypertension (N.S.)Also in this albumin treated period the incidence of hypotension changed from 20.4 % to 4,89 % (p<0.01) and cramp incidence changed from 24.14 % to 6.32 % which were statistically significant (p<0.001) In conclusion when we compare the periods the in the serum albumin levels and reduction in the incidence of hemodialysis hypotension and cramps, low dosage of human albumin solution administration is an useful approach for the hemodialysis patients.
