IntroductionWhile video feedback (VF) parenting programs are well-evidenced for improving maternal sensitivity and mental health, how well they translate to remote virtual (online) delivery has been little researched. The aim of this qualitative study was to understand mothers' perspectives on taking part in a hypothetical virtually delivered VF parenting intervention.MethodsWomen with a child under 24 months of age living in the UK were interviewed to provide their views on the potential benefits and barriers if they were to participate in a VF parenting program. Data were analysed using thematic analysis.ResultsTen mothers took part and were interviewed. Thematic analysis yielded five main themes: 1) Accessibility is enhanced but barriers to access remain, 2) Video is a powerful yet exposing tool, 3) The online digital nature of the intervention creates uncertainties, 4) The healthcare professional's qualities and the process of building trust, and 5) Understanding the intervention's requirements and integration into family life. Although virtual VF interventions offer increased accessibility and convenience, mothers also emphasized the need for additional scaffolding and tailored support to mitigate technical, practical, and psychological challenges that they perceived to be associated with remote delivery.DiscussionGiven that the virtual format demands additional emotional and practical resources—particularly for parents who may benefit most from parenting support—future interventions should incorporate parents' perspectives, including those of non-participants and non-completers, into their design process to optimize engagement and effectiveness.
