Presentación

El presente “Dossier” reúne los textos presentados en ocasión de la mesa redonda sobre el tema “La utilidad social de los estudios sociales de la ciencia y la tecnología en América Latina”, realizada en Buenos Aires, en el marco del Primer Congreso Argentino de Estudios Sociales de la Ciencia y la Tecnología. El propósito de dicha mesa era el de analizar críticamente el desarrollo de estos estudios durante las últimas décadas, con el fin de interrogarnos acerca de cuáles fueron las consecuencias, ya no en el plano interno de la conformación del campo, sino en términos de su aporte a diferentes espacios sociales, ya sea en la reconfiguración de las agendas de ciencia y tecnología, en una interpelación a las políticas públicas, a la puesta en evidencia de los problemas asociados con el desarrollo científico y tecnológico en la sociedades periféricas, entre otros tópicos posibles.
This “Dossier” brings together the texts presented on the occasion of the round table on the topic “The social usefulness of the social studies of science and technology in Latin America”, held in Buenos Aires, within the framework of the First Argentine Congress of Social Studies of Science and Technology. The purpose of this table was to critically analyze the development of these studies during the last decades, in order to ask ourselves about what the consequences were, no longer on the internal level of the formation of the field, but in terms of their contribution to different social spaces, whether in the reconfiguration of science and technology agendas, in an interpellation of public policies, in highlighting the problems associated with scientific and technological development in peripheral societies, among other possible topics. .
