Phytochemical Screening and Medicinal Properties of Caralluma Fimbriata and Moringa Oleifera

The research was intended to evaluate the medicinal properties of Caralluma fimbriata and Moringa oleifera, as these plants are well known for their therapeutic activities. Qualitative analysis of the phytochemical components of these plants was used to identify the existence of potentially useful therapeutic compounds. Antibacterial and antifungal activities of extracts were assessed and their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties were evaluated using the DPPH assay and the protein denaturation inhibition assay, respectively. The α-amylase and α-glucosidase inhibition tests were utilized to determine the plant extract's effectiveness as an antidiabetic agent. Phytochemical analysis showed the presence of medicinally beneficial compounds such as flavonoids, tannins, and phenolic compounds in the extract. The plant extracts were found to exhibit exceptional antimicrobial activity against the bacterial strains (Micrococcus luteus and Staphylococcus aureus) and a fungal strain (Aspergillus niger). The antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antidiabetic activities shown by both plants were also highly significant. Thus, in future Caralluma fimbriata and Moringa oleifera extracts might be used as herbal medicines against different ailments.
