Un Humanismo del control social: la utopía de la eugenesia

Una manera todavía insuficientemente explorada de pensar el Humanismo puede hallarse en el reconocimiento de su intersección con las formas de ejercer el control social que fueron diseñadas a través de perspectivas utópicas. Para insertarnos en la comprensión de esta problemática, indagaremos aquí cuestiones que comprenden aspectos del origen y el derrotero de la eugenesia. Así, nos detendremos en el análisis de un corpus concebido por el campo científico de la Inglaterra victoriana para incidir en las políticas de estado y, al hacerlo, daremos cuenta de instrumentos teóricos generados dentro de este marco para administrar, con una pretendida eficiencia, los recursos materiales y humanos de la sociedad capitalista. En nuestro abordaje de la eugenesia nos focalizaremos en el pensamiento utópico de Francis Galton, con el propósito de examinar un tipo de Humanismo que nació y se desarrolló con la expresa finalidad de custodiar hegemónicamente a un sistema fundado en la libertad de mercado, a través de medios que incluyeron la creación de una disciplina científica y la voluntad de ungir esa disciplina en religión del futuro.
A still insufficiently explored way of thinking about Humanism can be found in the recognition of its intersection with the ways of exercising social control which was designed through utopian perspectives. To insert ourselves into the understanding of this problem, we will investigate here issues that include aspects of the origin and course of Eugenics. Thus, we will stop at the analysis of a corpus conceived by the scientific field of Victorian England to influence state policies and, in doing so, we will give an account of theoretical instruments generated within this framework to manage, with an alleged efficiency, the material and human resources of capitalist society. In our approach to Eugenics, we will focus on the utopian thought of Francis Galton, to examine from here the purpose in which a type of Humanism was born and developed with the express goal of being hegemonically oriented to guarding a system founded on freedom of market through means that included the creation of a scientific discipline and the will to anoint that discipline as the religion of the future.
