Progress on the matter of Human Rights has allowed to visualize different groups considered vulnerable in view of their functional diversity –typically called “disabilities”– and to reflect on their social inclusion based on equal opportunities. The educational environment becomes the priority context so that these boys and girls can fulfill their basic rights. There, different conceptions and models on disability as a product of socio-cultural and scientific constructions are reflected, allowing, or not allowing, the real inclusion.
the object of this work is to review the senses of equality from the doctrine of Human Rights applied to education and to present our research on children’s conceptions about people with disabilities and the school inclusion of their peers with educational needs derived from their disabilities. the study consisted of a design of exploratory and descriptive type. We performed interviews in depth to 90 subjects aged 6 to 15, all students of public schools (La Plata, Buenos Aires). Here we show results regarding some of the investigated dimensions: equal rights to education and school inclusion of boys and girls with disabilities. Answers showed a poor response to the subject matter, a matter that begins to enrich as the subjects’ ages increase.
