Les "prédateurs" d'histoire ou la reconstruction du passé par les indiens Jebero

Presented during the spanish colony as the best exemple of the ?christians indians?, faithfull servants of the missionners, the Jebero natives have suffered the consequences of the explotation of the rubber and barbasco that shaked the Amazonian forest all along the XXth century. Nowadays, despite their interbreeding, the Jebero try to revendicate a cultural specificity, standing on tales of the past. How a native society submited to the politic, economic and symbolic dominion of the occidental world for nearly four centuries get to preserve an identity distinct from the amazonian half-caste society? The analysis of two tales recalling the origin of this society and the first contacts with the spanish conquerors will reveal a kind of appropriation of history that permit them to convert a long period of cultural integration in a mythological stage of foundation of the Jebero identity.
