Radicais livres e o envelhecimento cutâneo

Durante o envelhecimento cronológico cutâneo, ocorre a modificação do material genético e a proliferação celular decresce resultando na perda de elasticidade, da capacidade de regular o metabolismo e a replicação do tecido se torna menos eficiente. Oxidações químicas e enzimáticas envolvendo a formação de radicais livres aceleram esse fenômeno, gerando estresse oxidativo, cujo maior dano é a peroxidação dos ácidos graxos da dupla camada lipídica levando à morte celular. Para evitar esse processo, a pele possui seu próprio mecanismo de defesa. Entretanto, a capacidade protetora desse mecanismo diminui com o envelhecimento e compostos exógenos podem reforçar a proteção natural. Este artigo tem por objetivo revisar esses mecanismos de senescência e de ampliar a visão geral do profissional farmacêutico ajudando-o a desenvolver pesquisas que visem a prevenção do envelhecimento precoce cutâneo.
During the chronological cutaneous aging, modifications on the genetic material and cellular proliferation decreases result on lossing of elasticity and in the ability to regulate metabolism. Also, tissue replications become less efficient. Oxidations from chemical and enzymatic reactions involving the formation of free radicals accelerate this phenomenon, generating an oxidative stress. Peroxidation of fatty acids of the double lipid layer is one of the main damage, resulting on cellular death. In order to prevent oxidative stress, the skin has its own defense mechanism. However, the protective ability of this mechanism decreases with aging, and exogenous compounds may enhance this natural protection. The aim of this article is to review these senescence mechanisms and to amplify the general view of pharmacists, helping them to develop researches for prevention of cutaneous aging.
