Riepilogo

Descripción general del contenido del recurso.

In Spain: A changing society, several authors analyze the principal transformations that have occurred from the beginning of the democratic transition and the approval of the Spanish Constitution of 1978, until the end of the first decade of the 21st century. It examines the changes which affected practically all areas of social life and its various social sectors, and also looks at some of the prevailing ideas of the time. During this period, the Spanish economy underwent significant growth and change, and Spain became a modern country, homologous with those of its Western European neighbours. The ten chapters of this book represent a synthesis of a broad and rigorous research carried out previously, under the direction of the Professors Salustiano del Campo and José Félix Tezanos. 179 prestigious academics and specialists in several fields had collaborated in this work, whose dissertations are included in five large volumes published in Spain by Editorial Biblioteca Nueva, in a series of books called España siglo XXI. The aim of this book is to inform of the advances, problems and challenges experienced in Spanish society during one of the most productive and dynamic phases in its recent history. The intensity and scope of the changes which occurred during these years were such that Spain has now become a foremost example of a truly changing society. Spain: A changing society is an informative and well-researched work, which has been considered by some prominent Hispanists as one of the basic reference books for analysis and understanding of the period.
