Introducción : litio, territorio, ambiente y globalización

Las masivas intervenciones antrópicas con sus consecuencias de incremento de gases efecto invernadero (GEI) y cambio climático que afectan a las poblaciones del planeta Tierra han dado lugar a un marco institucional global que impulsa transformaciones sociotécnicas para revertir o, al menos, desacelerar estos efectos negativos. El litio juega un papel fundamental en la nueva revolución tecnológica basada en energías renovables. Si bien se estima que sus aplicaciones tecnológicas tendrán un impacto ambiental positivo a nivel global, no está tan claro cómo afectará a los territorios y al ambiente en las áreas de extracción localizadas en el Triángulo del litio que comprende los salares de Argentina, Bolivia y Chile. The massive anthropic interventions with their consequences of increased greenhouse effect gases ( GHG ) and climate change that affect the populations of Planet Earth, have given rise to a global institutional framework that promotes sociotechnical transformations to reverse or at least decelerate these negative effects. Lithium plays a fundamental role in the new technological revolution based on renewable energies. Although it is estimated that its technological applications will have a positive environmental impact at a global level, it is not clear how it will affect the territories and the environment in the extraction areas located in the Lithium Triangle comprising the salt flats of Argentina, Bolivia and Chile.
