Občanský zákoník č. 40/1964 Sb. jako zrcadlo doby

The article attempts to objectively capture the concept of the Civil Code of 1964 in the context of the time of its creation and entry into force, as well as in the context of other codifications of the 1960s. It takes into account the time discrepancy between the professional background of the authors, the influence of political pressures preceding the liberalization after 1960s, and the reflection in legal education of that time. In the next part, the article touches on some of the concepts introduced by the code and their doctrinal background. It states that not everything was conditioned by the political situation. The article points out the consequences that this codification had on legal thinking and its traces and overcoming after 1989.
