Focaliza-se o trabalho como via de realização pessoal, no caso do professor da educação básica como ponto de partida para sua formação. O magistério, um trabalho considerado fácil, na verdade envolve muitas dificuldades, que se refletem como desafios à formação de futuros professores. São analisados alguns desses desafios e a contribuição de autores, dedicados ao seu estudo, como Nóvoa, Saviani, Tardif, Lessard, Dubet, Vincent, Labaree, procurando olhar para o trabalho real efetuado pelo professor como inspiração para a sua formação. Hoje, sob a responsabilidade da universidade, ela está marcada por forte acento no aspecto teórico, ficando o da prática bem menos atendido. Atentar ao trabalho realizado pelo professor pode ajudar a aproximá-la das necessidades que o futuro professor irá enfrentar. Para tanto é urgente que se construa uma parceria efetiva entre as duas instituições formadoras do professor, a universidade e a escola.<br>The study focuses on work as a path toward personal realization, in the case of compulsory education teachers, as a starting-point for their training. Teaching, a job seen as easy, actually involves a great many difficulties, reflected as challenges to the training of future teachers. Some of these challenges are examined, as is the contribution of authors such as Nóvoa, Saviani, Tardif, Lessard, Dubet, Vincent, and Labaree, who have studied the topic, seeking to focus on the real work done by teachers as an inspiration for teacher education. Teacher education, today a responsibility of universities, is marked by a strong accent on the theoretical aspect, while practice comes a distant second. Attention to the work carried out by teachers may help bring teacher education closer to the needs of future teachers. This is why an effective partnership between the two teacher-educating institutions, universities and schools, needs urgently to be built.
