El puente Buenos Aires-Colonia del Sacramento

Según los autores, en el tiempo de los espacios integrados, la comunicación fronteriza debe encararse como un instrumento de mejoramiento de la calidad de vida de los habitantes de una región. Acorde con los progresos del Mercosur, el Puente Buenos Aires-Colonia pasa a ser un factor primordial de vínculo, no sólo entre Argentina y Uruguay o entre ambos y Brasil, sino como parte de una red de conexiones bioceánicas en la que América Latina jugará un rol fundamental para la incorporación de un área vital como el continente africano, y la profundización de nuestras relaciones con el Pacífico asiático. Bueno es aclarar su compatibilidad con todas las obras de infraestructura proyectadas en el corazón del MERCOSUR, ya sean éstas terrestres o fluviales. El aumento del intercambio regional se prevé lo suficientemente poderoso como para que todas las modalidades de integración fronteriza se tornen complementarias, jamás antagónicas entre sí.
The authors explain how this plan seeks to start a policy of inclusion of different regions in the framework of regional integration. Such integration would facilitate communication among MERCOSUR countries and promote the enlargement of markets through the exchange of products. This paper intends to inform the layman about how the construction of this bridge will turn into an essential tool towards the physical and strategic integration of Argentina with MERCOSUR countries and also about the impact this will have on the region headed by La Plata In an era of open spaces, border communication must be undertaken as an instrument to improve the standard of living of the inhabitants of a region. In line with the MERCOSUR advancements, the Buenos Aires- Colonia bridge becomes a substantial linking factor, not only between Argentina and Uruguay or between these two countries and Brazil, but as part of a network of bioceanic connections where Latin America will play a leading role regarding the incorporation of a vital area such as the African continent, and the strengthening of our relations with Pacific Asia. It is worth mentioning the consistency of this plan with all infrastructure works that have been designed within the MERCOSUR, either river or inland works. The envisaged increase in regional trade will be powerful enough to make all forms of border integration to be supplemental, and not to conflict with each other.
