Democracia vs. eficiência: a teoria da escolha pública Democracy and efficiency: the public choice theory

Analisa-se o modo como a ênfase da teoria da escolha pública na eficiência gerencial mediante o desenvolvimento da organização burocrática entra em conflito com a dimensão política da vida social, sobretudo na sua vertente democrática. Argumenta-se que democracia e eficiência são incompatíveis: o que os separa são considerações de caráter redistributivo.<br>The way in which the emphasis of public choice theory on managerial efficiency through the development of the bureaucratic organization conflicts with the political dimension of social life, specially in its democratic variant, is examined. Democracy and efficiency are incompatible, it is argued; they are brought apart by re-distributive issues.
