Cultivo de cogumelos comestíveis no Rio Grande do Sul: um olhar sobre a situação atual

ABSTRACT The consumption of mushrooms is becoming more frequent in Brazil, increasingly present on Brazilian tables. The spread of information related to their nutritional values and health benefits has contributed to the rising demand. However, mushroom production is still concentrated in specific areas, such as the interior of São Paulo, and data on producers in other states are still preliminary. In view of this, the objective of this study was to analyze how mushroom production is in Rio Grande do Sul, which species are cultivated, and the amount produced annually. The survey revealed a small number of producers (only 20), but a relatively high monthly production, at 98,144 tons.
