La Plata: de la ciudad apreciada a la ciudad ignorada

La ciudad de La Plata nace como una ciudad avanzada, que en su momento causó gran impresión en el ámbito nacional e internacional, como expresión de pujanza de una sociedad, en un país nuevo y vigoroso. Tal momento histórico se fue diluyendo, al igual que dicha concepción de la ciudad por parte de los gobernantes, urbanistas y de los habitantes platenses; ello quedó expresado en la configuración de la ciudad. El presente artículo es un avance en el cual se intenta abordar esta problemática desde una mirada distinta de la arquitectura. El mismo tiene por objetivo analizar los cambios de la ciudad bajo la influencia de factores políticos, económicos, urbanísticos y la manera en que estas mutaciones eran recibidas por la sociedad. Para ello se hizo un análisis evolutivo de dichos factores mediante tres cortes temporales: la Fundación (1882), el Cincuentenario (1932) y el Centenario (1982). The city of La Plata was born as an avant guard city that caused a great impact at that time on both national and international environments; it was seen as an expression of the society strength in a new and vigorous country. Such a historical moment has faded away, as has the city concept on the part of the governors, urbanists and habitants of La Plata, being the configuration of the city the only concept left. This paper intends to present this problem from the different approach than that of the architecture. The aim is to analyze the city changes considering the influence of the different political, economic and urban factors and how these changes have been received by the society. For this purpose, a developmental analysis of these factors was performed taking into account three time cuts: the Foundation (1882), the 50-year Anniversary (1932) and the 100-year Anniversary (1982).
