Carreiras de engenheiras em pesquisa científica e tecnológica: conquistas e desafios Engineering women careers on scientific and technological research: achievements and challenges

Qual é o lugar das mulheres nas atividades de pesquisa científica, tecnológica e industrial no campo da engenharia? Quais suas possibilidades de ingresso e progressão nessa carreira? Como as concepções sociais de gênero influenciam suas carreiras? O objetivo do artigo é discutir essas questões, recorrendo, de um lado, à análise de estatísticas sobre a participação feminina no conjunto dos pesquisadores brasileiros e entre os pesquisadores nas Engenharias e, de outro, a depoimentos de engenheiros e engenheiras que trabalham em atividades de pesquisas tecnológicas, científicas e industriais no Estado de São Paulo.<br>This paper aims to discuss the place of women in scientific and technological research in engineering, considering their insertion and the possibilities of progression, as well as the influence of gender social conceptions, in their careers. To attend this purpose, first, we analyzed gendered statistics about the career of scientific research in general, looking specially the engineering area. In order to enlight this quantitative portrait, we add an analysis of the related experiences from engineers - male and female -, that worked in technological and industrial research activities, in São Paulo State.
