Os museus e o patrimônio histórico: uma relação complexa

O termo museu, originário do grego mouseion, Templo das Musas, filhas de Zeus com Mnemosine, a memória. Local onde abrigava os mais variados ramos das artes e ciências. Sofreu uma severa evolução desde os gabinetes de curiosidades dos séculos XV - XVI, até o século XXI, como o "guardião" da cultura material. Essa cultura material, diretamente associada ao Patrimônio Histórico, nos relata não apenas objetos produzidos pela inteligência humana, mas partes importantes do seu cotidiano. Nesse artigo discutiremos esse conflito de interesses entre as duas instituições.<br>The word museum was derived from the Greek word mouseion - Temple of Muses, daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne, the personification of memory. It was a place where assorted branches of arts and sciences were sheltered. It suffered a radical evolution from the halls of curiosities dating from the 15th and 16th centuries up to the 21st century, when it became the "guardian" of material culture. This material culture, clearly associated with historical heritage, tells us of not only of objects produced by human intelligence, but also of important everyday life. In this article we will discuss the conflict of interest between both institutions.
