En un contexto educativo, hay esencialmente dos modos de aprovechar la capacidad de proceso y almacenamiento de una computadora: a) producir sistemas basados en el conocimiento (tales como servicios de Internet WWW, enciclopedias multimedia, etc.) en los que el usuario navegue y recupere textos, imágenes, sonidos...; b) construir un laboratorio simulado donde sea posible aumentar el conocimiento mediante aplicación de procesos similares al método científico: formulando hipótesis sobre un fenómeno y poniendo a prueba estas hipótesis mediante experimentos. Las herramientas construidas de acuerdo con el primer enfoque pueden facilitar el aprendizaje de las ciencias sociales, el segundo enfoque es más apropiado para la enseñanza tecnológica y los contenidos científicos. In an educational context, there are essentially two manners of taking advantage of the capacity of process and storage of a computer: a) to produce systems based on the knowledge (such as Internet service WWW, encyclopedias multimedia, etc.) in that the user navigates and recovers texts, images, sounds ...; b) to construct a simulated laboratory where it is possible to increase the knowledge by means of application of processes similar to the scientific method: formulating hypothesis on a phenomenon and testing these hypotheses by means of experiments. The tools constructed of agreement with the first approach can facilitate the learning of the social sciences, the second approach is more adapted for the technological education and the scientific contents.
