The paper focuses on legal regulation of the protection of agricultural land. Soil degradation is a serious problem in the Czech Republic that is exacerbating by the climate change. The article considers the effectiveness of the legal regulation of the soil protection and asks whether the Act on the Protection of Agricultural Land fulfills its main purpose. The aim of the paper is to stress the shortcomings of the legislation on the protection of agricultural land and to propose a solution de lege ferenda. The text focuses on the most serious regulatory issues: soil protection against erosion, soil protection against occupation and the problem of the lack of regulation of appropriate farming practice.
