This study investigates the phenomenon of exploding wire (EW), focusing on the decrease in electrical current during the dark pause (dp) in copper filament explosions in atmospheric air. An exponential model is proposed to describe the decay of current during this stage, and a simulated annealing (SA) algorithm is employed to fit the model parameters. A linear relationship is observed between the decay constant of the exponential model and the length, diameter, and discharge voltage of the wire. Furthermore, notable differences in the resistance of copper gas are discovered between coated and uncoated wires. These findings contribute to a better understanding of the process and its potential applications in various fields. Fil: Smirnoff, David Brian.
