La actividad aguacatera en la zona de Los Santos es la segunda actividad agrícola a nivel productivo y económico de la región después del café. Se ha convertido en una alternativa de cultivo que ha diversificado la fuente de ingresos de muchos productores, al disminuir el riesgo de depender solamente de la actividad cafetalera. Sin embargo, el cultivo presenta importantes desafíos para asegurar su sostenibilidad financiera, entre ellos, la baja productividad, la dificultad para mecanizar y una fuerte presencia de mercados regionales competitivos. Debido a esto, se planteó el presente estudio, cuyo objetivo fue determinar cuál tipo de manejo productivo genera mejores rendimientos financieros. Se utilizó el cálculo de la Relación Ingreso/Costo (RIC) y Tasa de Retorno Marginal (TRM) para estimar la rentabilidad de los sistemas. Asimismo, se realizó un análisis de riesgo a través de una simulación de Montecarlo donde se sensibilizó la RIC en 1000 escenarios, donde se determinó que los cuatro sistemas son rentables en un amplio espectro de probabilidades. El estudio mostró que el “Monocultivo Convencional Intensivo” presentó el mejor indicador de RIC (4,20) y TRM (578,58 %), aunque sistemas como el “Monocultivo enfocado en Múltiples Tecnologías” es una opción viable al considerar el manejo ambiental sostenible al usar insumos orgánicos y bioinsumos a un retorno financiero importante (RIC de 3,28). Cabe mencionar que estos resultados solo toman en cuenta aspectos financieros, sin embargo futuras investigaciones podrían evaluar dimensiones sociales y ambientales para obtener el mejor sistema desde un punto de vista integral. However, the crop presents important challenges to ensure its financial sustainability, including low productivity, the difficulty of mechanization, and the strong presence of highly competitive regional markets. The objective of this study was to determine which type of productive management generates the best financial returns. The calculation of the Income/Cost ratio and the calculation of the Marginal Rate of Return were used to estimate the profitability of the systems. Likewise, a risk analysis was carried out through a Monte Carlo simulation where the Income/Cost Ratio was sensitized in 1000 scenarios, where it was determined that the four systems are profitable in a wide range of probabilities. The study showed that the “Traditional Conventional” system presented the best Income/Cost Ratio (ICR) indicator (4,20) and Marginal Rate of Return (578,58 %), although systems such as monoculture focused on multiple technologies is a viable option when considering sustainable environmental management by using organic inputs and bio-inputs at a significant financial return (ICR of 3,28). It is worth mentioning that these results only take into account financial aspects; however, in future research, social and environmental dimensions could be evaluated to obtain the best system from an integral point of view.
