HUBUNGAN ANTARA DUKUNGAN SOSIAL ORANGTUA DENGAN KERAGUAN MENGAMBIL KEPUTUSAN KARIER PADA MAHASISWA TAHUN PERTAMA

The aims of this researchwas to determine the relationship between parents social support among first-year college students. Parents have a central role in assisting their children in career development,support from parents can influence individual processes in formulating the initial goals of their careers.The population are 205 first-year students inDepartment of Civil Engineering Diponegoro University and the subjects are 137 students (Male=104 students, Female=33 students)thatchoosen by cluster random sampling technique. The research instrumentsareParents Support Scale (23 items with α = .870) and Career IndecisionScale (20 items with α = .864). Simple regression analysis shows that rxy = -0,296, F = 12,965, β = -0,300, andp = 0,000 (p< 0,05). The result of this study shows that there is a negative and significant relationship betweenparents social support and career indecision among first-year college students.Parents social supportpredict 8,8% to career indecision and the 91,2% predicting by other factors.
