Asimismo se discuten las m\u00e1s recientes innovaciones implantadas por el sistema salvadore\u00f1o de salud, dentro de las que destacan la aprobaci\u00f3n de la Ley de Creaci\u00f3n del Sistema Nacional de Salud que busca ampliar la cobertura, disminuir las desigualdades y mejorar la coordinaci\u00f3n de las instituciones p\u00fablicas de salud.<br>This paper describes the health conditions in El Salvador and the main caracter\u00edstics of the Salvadoran health system, including its structure and coverage, its financial sources, the physical, material and human resources available, the stewardship functions developed by the Ministry of Public Health, and the participation of health care users in the evaluation of the system.
