Centralnym problemem rozważanym w artykule jest relacja pomiędzy władzą a sztuką. Główną ramę teoretyczną dla prowadzonego wywodu stanowi teoria dramatu społecznego Victora Turnera. Performanse artystyczne w tym ujęciu są traktowane jako performanse kulturowe posiadające zakorzenienie w konflikcie społecznym. Autor najpierw bada skierowane przeciw władzy polityczne performanse rosyjskiego artysty Piotra Pawlenskiego, by później skupić się na analizie performansu List skierowanego przeciw wyborom korespondencyjnym, zorganizowanego w czasie pandemii COVID-19.
