<p>Where are flight surgeons heading to in NATO? How does the aeromedical community contribute to flight safety in allied air and space operations? What are the standards expected to deliver best practices in aerospace medicine? How can opportunities be translated in improvement? This paper describes the overall responsibilities, roles and functions of flight surgeons in the Alliance for the benefit of medical providers, policy makers, decision makers, planners and other stakeholders, wishing an easy overview of NATO aeromedical doctrine and a comprehensive reading of the core concepts otherwise fragmented in different Allied Publications.</p>
