Summary

Descripción general del contenido del recurso.

INTRODUCTION. The study is dedicated to the reception of Yu.M. Lotman’s theoretical legacy in the Chinese and English-speaking academic spaces, which has not yet received a systematic comparative analysis in the scientific literature. The study of the scholar's ideas is driven by the need to develop skills in interpreting Chinese and English-speaking contexts for understanding culture as a semiotic system in the information age. The aim of the study is to analyze and compare the features of the reception of Yu.M. Lotman’s theory, identifying the factors that have influenced the formation of various interpretative representations. MATERIALS AND METHODS. The research material included key publications by Chinese and English-speaking scientists dedicated to the work of Yu.M. Lotman, as well as translations of his works. Comparative analysis, the method of receptive criticism, sociocultural and historical approaches were used. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION. The study showed that the reception of Y.M. Lotman in the English-speaking world evolved from a “structuralist-innovator” to the author of interdisciplinary “cultural semiotics”, while in China it shifted from “structural poetics” to the formation of two main interpretative trajectories: linguistic (static analysis) and literary (dynamic analysis). CONCLUSION. The main ways of reception and approaches to studying Lotman’s legacy used by Chinese and Englishspeaking researchers have been identified. A comparative analysis of the reception of Yu.M. Lotman showed that scholars are increasingly interested in understanding his theory as part of the global intellectual heritage. The perspective of the research lies in addressing the understanding of the mechanisms of the “theoretical scientific journey” and the dialog between various academic traditions.
