A 42-year-old female with history of surgery due to urolithiasis was admitted to hospital with complaints of fever, left fl ank pain and vomiting. She was found to have acute kidney injury due to urinary tract infection. Abdominal computed tomography revealed right atrophic kidney and left renal and perirenal abscesses together with urolithiasis. Urine, blood and abscess cultures yielded C. albicans. The patient was treated with fl uconazole and percutaneous drainage of the perirenal abscess, which was 60 mm in diameter. Her serum creatinine returned to the normal ranges within two weeks of hospitalization. Nearly 18 months following this presentation, she has normal serum creatinine and no abscesses in the kidneys.
