The placement of continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) catheter by conventional open surgical technique may cause a number of complications such as: Infection , hemorhage , leakage from the insertion site and intestinal perforation most of which are related to open surgery and insertion of the catheter without direct vision. Because of poor wound healing and insufficient host defense system in patients with end stage renal disease , we modified the minimal invasive technique , with the laparoscope , for insertion CAPD catheter under direct vision. All four patients who underwent laparoskopic CAPD catheter insertion have excellent results for performing peritoneal dialysis, surgical healing and and cosmetics. Application of laparoscopy for placement of CAPD catheter, should be considered as an alternative to open surgery, especially for patients who have previous abdominal surgical procedure , because of its efficacy, low risk of complication and better cosmetic results
