ARCHETYPE IMAGES IN IREN ROZDOBUDKO’S NOVEL “THE INCREDIBLE. ODE TO JOY”

The article is devoted to the analysis of female archetypes and symbolic structures in Iren Rozdobudko’s novel Incredible. Ode to Joy, examined through the prism of Jung’s theory of the collective unconscious and modern mythopoetic approaches. Archetypes are interpreted as dynamic semantic models that transform under the influence of sociocultural context and are manifested in the imagery of modern Ukrainian prose. The study traces how the archetypes of the Virgin, the Muse, the Amazon, and the Mother interact within the structure of the image of Olena Teliga. Together, they form a multidimensional model of female subjectivity that combines tenderness, joy, creative energy, and an inner readiness for resistance. Special attention is paid to the symbols that structure the novel: the voice, the path, joy, Kyiv and home. They are understood as archetypal markers of the heroine’s inner transformation. The article demonstrates that the capital of Ukraine appears as a space of initiation and a return to origins. The voice functions as an instrument of spiritual resistance, while joy emerges as an existential principle that ensures the integrity and resilience of the inner world. The symbolic system creates a cohesive dynamic of archetypal development and highlights the cultural and national dimensions of the novel. The study offers a contemporary interpretation of female strength as a model of spiritual invincibility rooted in Ukrainian historical experience. The image of Olena Teliga appears not only as an artistic reconstruction of a real figure in Ukrainian literature but also as an archetypal symbol of resistance, freedom, and renewal — one that becomes particularly relevant in times of war.
