Building on research at the intersection of popular culture, identity, and politics, this article examines how films function as a means of shaping and expressing the civilizational imaginary during armed conflict. It focuses on Ukrainian cinema during the early phase of the Russian aggression against Ukraine (2014–2019). The article explores the role of cinematic references to European civilization in Ukrainian society in the context of the ongoing war.
