Estereotipos de género, sexismo ambivalente y dominancia social en estudiantes universitarios civiles y militares

Los cambios en los roles y la mayor presencia femenina en los distintos ámbitos sociales han permitido cambios estructurales y culturales. Estos cambios se hacen presentes y es necesario estudiarlos en instituciones formativas de la persona, como son las universidades. Desde la perspectiva psicosocial del género se desarrolló un estudio empírico orientado a indagar los estereotipos de género, las actitudes sexistas y la dominancia social en un grupo de 300 estudiantes universitarios de instituciones civiles y militares. Los resultados muestran características masculinas esquematizadas respecto a la imagen del hombre, siendo que la mujer es caracterizada con un estereotipo andrógino, relacionado probablemente a la necesidad de presentarse de manera contra estereotípica para funcionar como líderes. Asimismo, se observa la presencia de actitudes sexistas tanto hostiles como benevolentes, las cuales se relacionan con la dominancia social. Se verifican diferencias estadísticamente significativas en función del tipo de muestra. Changes in roles and the greater presence of women in different social spheres have led to adjustments ranging from the structural to the cultural. These changes are present and it is necessary to study them in person’s formative institutions, such as universities. From a psychosocial gender perspective, an empirical study was carried out aimed to investigate gender stereotypes, sexist attitudes and social dominance in a group of 300 university students from civil and military institutions. The results show schematized masculine characteristics with respect to the image of the man, being that the woman is characterized with an androgynous stereotype, probably related to the need to present herself in a counter-stereotypical way to function as leaders. Likewise, the presence of sexist attitudes, both hostile and benevolent, which are related to social dominance, is observed.
