Patrones y convenciones en el arte figurativo del Formativo temprano en la Costa norte de los Andes centrales

In this article, we present a review of the published and non-published information about the evidence of figurative art ascribed to the Early Formative Period (1500-1000 b. C.) in the North and North-Central Coast of the Central Andes. On the basis of this review, we identify types of forms and representations that can be considered as diagnostics for this period. Finally, we point out the similarities and differences between this group and its parallels in the Late Archaic and Middle Formative periods, establishing the sequential links between the figurative clusters of this periods.
