The situation of indigenous woman hasnot changed throughout history. Even thoughthey make efforts and work hard, they continue tolive in marginality and poverty. Now, during theDecade of Indigenous Peoples (1995-2004), whentheir principal role has been recognized worldwideas an active agent in societies all over theworld, we still face the true challenge of not onlyrestoring their devaluated dignity as human beings,but also of improving their conditions andquality of life.
