¿Por qué hacer divulgación científica en la Argentina?

El presente trabajo sostiene que en la Argentina la ausencia de una conciencia por parte de la sociedad sobre qué es, para qué puede servir y cómo usar la ciencia, restó apoyo a la investigación, provocó la desintegración de instituciones, emigración de jóvenes investigadores, y creó dificultades insalvables para investigadores formados. A partir de allí, se aboga por la formación de una corriente de opinión masiva favorable a las actividades científicas. Para ello, cobra real magnitud la figura del divulgador científico. En este sentido, en el artículo también se relata la experiencia institucional del Programa de Divulgación Científica y Técnica (CyT) de la Fundación Campomar, cuyo objetivo inicial fue generar recursos humanos capaces de producir información científica para ser difundida masivamente. This work maintains that the absence of answers in Argentine society of what science is, what it can be used for and how to use it, has undermined research, caused institutional collapses and the emigration of young researchers, and created insuperable difficulties for trained researchers as well. From this starting point, the author advocates the creation of a tide of popular opinion which would sanction scientific activity. With a view to achieving this, the figure of the disseminator of scientific information takes on a real significance, and with this in mind the article also relates the institutional experience of the Program for Science and Technical Popularization (Programa de Divulgación Científica y Técnica), the so-called “CyT” of the Fundación Campomar. Their initial objective was to create the human resources needed for producing science information which would then be circulated in the mass media.
