Summary

The Arginine Thiazolidincarboxylate (ATC), a derivative of the Thiazolidine Carboxylic Acid, is a phisiological substance that acts as direct and simultaneous giver of sulfhydriles and metyl groups, assuring by this way a protective action on biological membranes. It is possible that it interacts on the erythrocyte membrane and this effect could be detected through meditions of blood viscosity, depending on erythrocyte deformability. The in vitro effects o n blood viscosity were studied in 15 healthy patients. It was observed a significative decrease in viscosity in all the rates of shear studied (120, 60, 24 and 12 sec-1) at 30, 60 and 90 minutes of incubation at 37ºC. The decrease observed was much more significative at 30 minutes in all the rates of shear. No modification of the hematocrite was observed. Colegio de Farmacéuticos de la Provincia de Buenos Aires
