Precios, causalidad y dinero en Argentina

El presente trabajo se propone estudiar empíricamente la relación entre dinero (Mt, variación porcentual de billetes y monedas en poder del público y depósitos en cuenta corriente -Mi-) y precios (Pt, variación porcentual del nivel general de precios mayoristas) en la Argentina en los últimos veinticinco años aproximadamente. Se concluye que la relación causal entre precios y dinero en Argentina es cambiante. Asimismo, la relación de dinero y precios es diferente en nuestro país que en países con menores tasas de inflación. Mientras que en el resto del mundo y en los países industrializados en particular, existe un prolongado lapso de tiempo entre cambio en Mt y Pt, que llega hasta los dos o tres años, en nuestro país no existen efectos significativos más allá del año. This issue proposes to study empirically the relationship between money (Mt porcentual variety of notes and coins in the hands of the public and deposits in the current accounts -Mi-) and prices (Pt porcentual variety of the general level of whole sale prices) in Argentina during the last 25 years, approximately. It is concluded that the causal relationship between prices and money in Argentina is changing. Likewise the relationship between prices and money is different in our country as regards countries with lower inflation rates. While in the rest of the world and the industrialized countries mainly, it exists a long period of time between the change in Mt and Pt that reaches 2 or 3 years, in our country it doesn't exist relevant effects farther on a year's time.
