Inisiatif pertumbuhan diri diperlukan oleh mahasiswa generasi Z yang sedang memasuki masa emerging adulthood pada era digital saat ini. Persepsi terhadap harapan orangtua diduga menjadi variabel yang dapat memprediksi inisiatif pertumbuhan diri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji secara empiris peran persepsi harapan orangtua terhadap inisiatif pertumbuhan diri pada mahasiswa generasi Z. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Fakultas Psikologi Universitas Diponegoro Semarang dengan populasi 673 mahasiswa dan jumlah sampel penelitian 233 mahasiswa. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah teknik proportionate stratified random sampling. Pengumpulan data menggunakan Skala Inisiatif Pertumbuhan Diri (20 item valid,a = 0,880) dan Skala Persepsi terhadap Harapan Orangtua (24 item valid, a= 0,877). Analisis data menggunakan analisis regresi sederhana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model regresi diterima (F(1) = 36,502; p< 0,001; R2= 0,136) dengan β = 0,369 (p = 0,001). Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa persepsi terhadap harapan orangtua memiliki peran positif dalam memprediksi tingkat inisiatif pertumbuhan diri pada mahasiswa generasi Z.
