Argentina y China: economía de mercado y relaciones estratégicas

El ascenso del Pacífico Norte como nuevo epicentro económico mundial perturba la tradicional orientación de la Republica Argentina en materia de política exterior. Tendencia que se corrobora en la modificación del patrón de ventas al exterior y en la mayor interación política con la región que otrora no representaba mayor relevancia en nuestra agenda externa. En este contexto se inserta la firma del Memorando de Entendimiento de noviembre de 2004 entre la República Argentina y la República Popular China. El objetivo del presente trabajo es analizar los avances y retrocesos en la relación bilateral pos firma de dicho documento, el cual, se sintetizo en dos elementos claves: el reconocimiento argentino de China como Economía de Mercado y el establecimiento de una Asociación Estratégica. The fact that the Northern Pacific area has become the new world economic epicentre disrupts the traditional Argentine orientation with respect to foreign policy. This is a trend that is reinforced by the change in export trends and the bigger political interaction with a region that did not appear to be particularly relevant before. The signature of the Understanding Memorandum, between Argentina and China, in November 2004 happened in this context. The aim of the present work is to analyse the forward and backward movements as regards the bilateral relations after such memorandum was signed, which can be summarized by two key elements: Argentine recognition of China as a World Economy and the setting up of a Strategic Partnership.
