Long-Term Care in Poland in 2010–2013

The aim of these study is to determine the status of long-term care in Poland in the years 2010–2013, primarily on the basis of legal regulations and the statistics published by the Central Statistical Office. The article is theoretical in its nature, and its purpose is to identify the most important problems related to the organization of long-term care in Poland. The author omits wide financial aspect, focuses on other, equally important issues, among others: on the demographic situation, human resources and legal dependents. In addition to well-known problems associated with long-term care, such as an aging population, lack of adequate system to collect information on whether the low level of benefits, the author moves more specific issues, such as staffing, psychological and nursing care problems. Author presents information about long-term care in Sweden, where the care of dependents is considered the most advanced in Europe.
